Public Programs

Please check our Web site frequently for periodic updates. We aim to provide children, students, families, adult learners and communities a full complement of educational programming. Most of these programs are free to all, made available through the generosity of the Buhl Foundation and the Frick Fund of the Buhl Foundation.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Education Department is starting a Young Professional Corps of volunteers. We are organizing a group of young and young-at-heart professionals who are interested in furthering the arts, working with youth, and volunteering a few hours per month to an exciting, worthwhile cause. In collaboration with Duquesne University's Career Literacy for African American Youth program (CLAAY), the Education Department presents a unique opportunity for civic leadership and service.

This Young Professionals Corps will:

  • Serve as mentors to high school students for a total of 16 hours per year
  • Improve the quality of life for community youth
  • Assist with Education Department programs as interest or need dictates
  • Receive one pair of August Wilson Center program tickets per season
  • Receive early notice of Education Department programs and workshops
  • Support career literacy
  • Support arts education
  • Develop new skills
  • Meet new people
  • Have fun!
